Good progress made in weeks 10 & 11 with roof on and stairs installed...

Pleased to report two milestones with the project.

The first is that the stairs have been delivered and were installed within just over an hour - a testament to Alan, Robbie and the site team from Classic Builders. The pockets that were created in the new and existing walls ready for the stairs were spot on and the three interlocking parts of the reinforced concrete stairs fitted together seamlessly.

The second is the roof section over the kitchen and WC has been covered. After some discussion, we reverted to a standing seam zinc roof (rather than aluminium) and we are looking forward to the roof over the new stairs being completed shortly.

All the first fix electrics and plumbing has been completed and the floors in the dry goods store, the shop, the gents WC and the kitchen have all been screeded. The internal stud walls have been plasterboarded and with the upstairs windows due for delivery on Monday, plastering can get underway.

We have made a design change to the front door - changing it from two doors to a larger single door that will be automated. Maybe the first rugby club with an automatic door, but will ensure the clubhouse is truly accessible for everyone.

The extra benching for the kitchen is being delivered and the target is to return the kitchen in time to be used for post match meals after the pre-season friendly against Old Albanians on 13th August.

Aside from the main build project, work is progressing to combine the medical and physio rooms and modernise these so we have a better medical facility for everyone who plays at Kingsey Road.

Key activities for this coming week are plastering, installation of first floor windows, forming the new opening to the players' bar and screeding the entrance lobby and landing. That'll do for now!

Until the next time,
Bob the Builder (aka Hon Sec)
