It was a game that went down to the wire and just 1 point separated the sides at the final whistle.

In fabulous sunny conditions both sides showed their intent early on by spreading the ball wide at every opportunity. A wayward pass from Chinnor after just 3 minutes was intercepted by Kohler who strolled under the posts leaving a simple conversion for Honey. After 11 minutes Ross Taylor scored a second try, fortunately in the corner, for BSE following a period of sustained pressure and hesitancy from the Chinnor defence. 0-12

Chinnor’s forwards then began to dominate. They were awarded a penalty try following continued infringements at the breakdown by the visitors and the first yellow card of the afternoon was brandished. This did not deter a confident Bury side who scored 10 unanswered points when down to 14 men! First Kohler put in a delicate chip which bounced kindly for him to gather and score. This was again converted by Honey. Then a penalty by Honey further increased the lead on 30 minutes. Chinnor then reasserted themselves with a push over try on the stroke of half time scored by Ben Manning. A superb conversion by Jonny Bentley brought the score back to 14-22 at half time to spare a few Chinnor blushes.

The second half was all Chinnor and three more yellow cards for the visitors. From a series of scrummages in the BSE 22 Chinnor eventually went in for another push over score by Ben Manning again converted by Bentley which narrowed the gap to one point. An unconverted try by Scholes on 71 minutes extended the Wolfpack's lead once again to six points.

To their credit Chinnor kept their composure and belief. Firstly they had a try disallowed and then with 3 minutes remaining the referee lost patience with continued BSE infringements and awarded a second penalty try to edge the hosts ahead for the first time in the game. There was noticeable relief from the home crowd when Jonny Bentley put the ball into touch to end a testing encounter. The determining factors in this encounter were the sheer dominance of the Chinnor scrum and the 4 yellow cards to the visitors
