Matt Williams signs contract extension. Coaching set up & retentions announced

Chinnor RFC are delighted to announce the contract extension of Director of Rugby, Matt Williams until 2020. This will be 4th full season in charge at Kingsey road for Matt and achieved the target set by the Board for promotion to Nat 1 by the end of his 3rd season.

Since winning the play off Matt has been busy restructuring his coaching staff ready for National One with the additions of Dan George (London Scottish), Paddy Gill (Ealing Trailfinders), Powerhouse S&C as well as the retention services of Ricky Kahn.

31 year old Dan George is a Welsh Hooker having played over 150 Professional Games for London Welsh, Gloucester, Worcester Warriors, Bedford and latterly London Scottish where he found himself upscaled to the coaching department last season sharing the lead coach role. Dan was offered the opportunity to solely coach this coming season but deciding he wasn't ready to hang his boots up, Chinnor immediately pounced. A delighted Matt Williams said "Hooker is a key area I am looking to improve and I wanted to play around with my coaching team too. An opportunity to bring Dan to the club is just too good to miss. We are like minded when it comes to how rugby should be played and it only took me one conversation to know he was my man...Not only is Dan a proven top level Hooker but he has shown what an excellent coach he is too. Chinnor will more than allow Dan the platform to hone his tools!" Dan added, "I've known about Chinnor since being at London Scottish and all the boys i know that have played there have nothing but positive things to say. I like what Matt and the Club are about and I'm excited to see what 2018/9 brings!"

Current Ealing Trailfinders Skills Coach and Team Manager Paddy Gill joins Chinnor as Skills/Attack coach. Former Ealing scrumhalf, Paddy was Academy Coach for Yorkshire Carnegie whilst Assistant Coach at Leeds Met University. Having returned back South where Paddy rejoined Ben Ward at Ealing as Skills Coach, later becoming 1st XV Team manager too. Last season Paddy was also backs Coach at London Irish Wild Geese. Matt added, "Wild Geese were one of the best creative backlines in Nat2 as they showed when they took our unbeaten 2 year record. It is common knowledge we have a special relationship with Ealing and I'm delighted to extend that further with the arrival of Paddy. He will ably assist Ricky and I'm sure he will put an early marker down on our already exciting backline!"

RAF members Liam Louth Josh Scott and former Chinnor Lock Darren Oliver make up the Powerhouse Bootcamp team. Powerhouse will be handling all Strength & Conditioning this season. Matt commented, "With my longstanding partner Ricky Khan staying on to run the Backs, Steve Trenchard Team Manager and the additions of Dan, Paddy and Powerhouse, I believe we have the Premier Coaching set up in the Thames Valley and surrounding counties. We are under no illusions as to the difficulty of this season but we will do all we can to make sure the boys are ready and able. I am also delighted The Falcons stayed up in Zoo 1 next season. Matt Mountford and H Evans did a fantastic job of keeping the show on the road and we have an exciting dedicated coaching team that will be announced in the very near future. The Falcons is a key part of the 1st XV successes and we are hoping it will only keep growing!"

We will be posting news of additions to the squad in the coming weeks but for now we are pleased to announce the Squad retentions for 2018/19
