Where have our stairs gone?

Bob the Builder reports ...

Works continue apace both inside and out at the rugby club. Foundations have been poured and the concrete block and beam floor for the office and shop/store has been fitted. Inside, the works have been no less dramatic – the stairs are now gone, albeit that the steel reinforcement still needs to be cut out. This area will become the lift shaft for the platform lift currently located outside the members’ bar.

The structural engineer visited and has confirmed some details with more to follow. Steel posts and beams have been ordered. The lintels to house roller shutters are on site and the brick and block walls are likely to be up to first floor level by the end of the week.

Technical challenges this week have been the discovery of underfloor heating pipework in the former clubhouse office; the sheer strength of the steel reinforced stairs to be removed; fitting wider lintels to an internal opening and moving the safe.

Classic Builders are making good progress and are asking all the right questions. The site team are self-contained behind the security fencing and are well organised. Everyone is pleased with progress so far.
