Phase 1 is charging ahead

Bob the Builder reports ...

After a busy time for club staff and Friday Club volunteers, the front of the clubhouse has been turned over to the builders. The dry goods store, office, cleaning store and tool store have all found temporary homes for the next few weeks.

Over the summer, access to the clubhouse is from pitch-side straight into both bars via the balcony or into the changing room corridor. The new doors are a big improvement on what we had before and have been expertly fitted. The drainage is more than half way completed and the foundations are due to be dug next. Inside, the builders have made a start on the cellar ante-room by moving electrics and building a new separating wall.

The new concrete floor, stairs, windows, doors, lintels and structural steel has all been ordered. Some bricks and blocks are already on site and everything is poised for a big week coming up. The route into the clubhouse from the car-park is signposted and will be lit ready for this week-end’s functions. Inside the club, it is very much business as usual with Dodge, Gemma and the catering team on hand for functions and parties as well as the last few end of season dinners.

When visiting the club, do take a moment to see the progress the builders have made already.

We have raised £39k from pure club sources towards our target of £50k, which has been matched by sponsors Rectory Homes to give us £78k to add to the various grants we have already received. Rectory Homes are willing to match our fund raising up to £50k, so if we can find another £11k, we can double it to £22k towards the other phases of the building programme. So any contributions will be gratefully received - and doubled in a flash!
