It is with deep regret that we announce the death of club stalwart, Alan Beveridge

It is with great sadness that we have learned of the sudden death of Alan Beveridge this week.
Alan was both a competent and enthusiastic player and coach with the Club. He was a strong running centre with the Vets during the ‘noughties decade’.
Alan began coaching U/7 Rugby at Chinnor some 13 years ago. He went on to become head coach and steered the age group though the Junior section right though to Colts along with a coaching team of Dave Ratcliffe, David Aston, Mark Nicholls, David Cook and Richard Hutt with Mandy Ayres as Team Administrator. Alan's son, Alex played throughout the Mini and Junior period and his wife Fiona provided medical expertise for the group using her extensive nursing experience. Alex went on to University and pursued his love of rowing in which he excelled and provided Alan with an immense source of pride.
Alan was a dedicated coach and member of the club and ardent supporter. He organised numerous age group tours, festivals, dinners and whatever activity the age group or club required. Latterly he took on the onerous role of Junior Chairman which he embraced with characteristic energy and enthusiasm and left a lasting legacy.
We will miss Alan's humour and vocal Scottish passion for the game, and the Club. He was proud of the players he coached and in equal fashion had an unwavering support for his national team.
Particular highlights of Alan's time at Chinnor include Vets Floodlit Cup games, tours to Worcester, Dorset, and a fabulous adventure in France which, besides some great games of rugby, included a poignant visit to the war graves which ended with a few drinks for the coaches once the players were in bed.
The club would like to extend its sincerest condolences and support to Fiona and Alex in this time of great sadness.

Alan's funeral will take place at Oxford Crematorium on Friday 9th March at 2.00 PM
