Chinnor RFC are delighted to announce the signing of Championship stalwart Nick Selway from Jersey Reds.

Gloucester born 29 year old man mountain Nick Selway is one of the best set piece Hookers in the Championship and Jersey’s longest serving player. Standing at 6ft 2’ and 116kg Nick spent the majority of his playing days at Tight head until Jersey converted him to a Hooker in 2015 thus making Nick one of the best scrummaging hookers in the pro game.

Prior to Jersey Nick enjoyed 2 seasons playing over 50 games for former National 2 side Lydney, before making the short journey across The Forest to National One side Cinderford in 2012.

But it wasn’t until Nick’s third season at Jersey where an injury gave him a new lease of life, covering hooker by default and realizing he could throw the ball, with his natural scrummaging ability the conversion into the middle was complete and Nick became a reinvented force of nature! He has enjoyed over 120 games for Jersey during his 6 season tenure.

Chinnor Director of Rugby Matt Williams commented, “With Nick sandwiched between the sizeable additions of Camilo and Joe Rees we have the opportunity to create an absolute terrifying set piece weapon. I’ve been hugely impressed with Nick’s attitude and he will add a level of mental toughness and edge we have been missing on occasions this season. Nick will be a great character in the changing room and I’m very excited to see him in Chinnor colours. We will also need to reinforce the changing room bench for the front row!”

Nick commented, “I’ve had an amazing time at Jersey and will leave the Club with the fondest of memories and friends for life but Chinnor is a good opportunity for me to further my career in construction whilst playing a great standard of rugby. If I can help the club achieve its goal on the pitch, then even better too!”
