The 11th year of The Touchline Society brings grave concern Touchline Society in shock to the system
The day began with the usual array of misunderstandings;
who is going to what, where is the bus, where is Bob! After some time, we
were on our way and this time we are moving up market. For the first time, a
car park ticket It was a case of cans of beer, sweaty sandwiches and sheltering from the pissing rain as the match time drew closer. Some of the members had been given the chance to dine with the "in crowd" in the corporate hospitality tents. But, they didn't have as good a time as we did because they were warm and seated in a nice comfortably furnished tent eating warm food. Our lunch was significantly better as we sheltered in the mini-bus from a rainstorm, shivered when the winds came and ate our cold sausage rolls and drank our wine from the bottle. They just didnt know what they were missing!
The purpose of the Touchline Society is to have a good day out watching a good game of rugby. This year, for the first time ever, we had a good day out, but didnt see a good game of rugby. In fact, we saw a game of rugby which would mean that England lost at Twickenham for the first time for decades after playing like a bunch of amateurs against Ireland. All in all a good day tempered (badly) by a crap performance by the RWC champions.
