Mini/Midi

Mini/Midi refereeing is covered in the RFU level 1 coaching course. This course is currently free to Chinnor coaches, as the cost is reimbursed by the club.

Alternatively, Mini/Midi refereeing can be studied as a separate course:

Duration approximately 6 hrs.

All theory, based on principles of refereeing and laws of the modified game, short exam at the end of the course.
Cost £30 (This course is subsidized by the club – 50% reimbursement)

National Foundation 1

Duration approximately 6 hrs.

All theory, based on principles of refereeing and laws of the 15 a-side game, short exam at the end of the course.

National Foundation 2

Normally delivered by the Referee society, this is a progression from NF1. It is possible to set up a part two course locally with Oxford FRU if there is suitable demand.
All theory, based on principles of refereeing and laws of the 15 a-side game, short exam at the end of the course.
Cost £60 – may vary. (This course is subsidized by the club – 50% reimbursement)

Society Referee Award

The Society Referee Award is aimed at those referees who have successfully completed the National Foundation Referee Course Parts 1&2 and those referees who have some refereeing experience.

The course is challenging and requires some distance learning to be done by the candidates and there is a course workbook to be completed by the candidates.

Delivery of the course is classroom based, with power point instruction, and the length of the course is determined between the candidates and the tutors.

The Society Referee Award exam is divided into three sections:

  • Basic Refereeing;

  • Understanding the Game;

  • Refereeing beyond basic.

Development Referee Award

The Development Referee Award is aimed at those referees who wish to progress as development squad referees or assessors. It is primarily targeted at Federation development squad referees.
