If you are interested in coaching courses please click here The letter below indicates how important coaching will become in the years ahead..... Dear Colleague, A new initiative is in progress that is going to affect you and your club. Over the last three years the RFU has been a leader in the development of coaching qualifications in line with the Government’s agenda to drive up coaching standards. There are now 5 levels of qualification meeting the needs of grass roots; Premiership and International coaches. In the RFU’s new Strategic Plan there is a commitment to developing a range of programmes that update currently qualified coaches, supported by systematic tracking procedures that will allow identification, development and mentoring of talented coaches. The next step in producing a first class coach education system is to ensure that all of the coaches working within the game regularly update their knowledge, skills and understanding. As part of this process, the government, through Sportscoach UK, are seeking for all National Governing Bodies of Sport to implement a Coach Licence Scheme. The document “Creating a First Class Coaching Development System through coach Licensing Scheme” has been circulated to County Development Committees, clubs and coaches to consider and provide feedback. This consultation will take two forms; firstly, the documentation will appear in the coaching section of the RFU’s website together with an opportunity to email responses. Secondly, copies will be distributed to CBRDP’s and Coaching Sub Committees, followed by a series of consultation meetings to receive feedback. These have been agreed between the CDO, DB Coaching Committee and RDO’s. All feedback will be collated throughout the autumn to be presented to the RFU Coaching Sub Committee for further discussion in spring 2007, before final proposals are made to the RFU Council. Colleagues – licensing is going to happen (2010) let us not delude ourselves but we can influence the reach and impact of the scheme. I look forward to your responses. Thank you
Stephen Arundell
