Chinnor 2nd XV
10 vs. Witney 2nd XV 26
Saturday 28th January 2006
Friendly
Chinnor seconds ended up on the
wrong end of the stick in their league match against old rivals Witney
seconds, loosing 24 points to 10.
This was as usual very physical,
with both teams giving their best.
It took to the 20th
minute before Chinnor went ahead by some great forward driving for Ian
Stock to score. This was followed by a converted try by Witney who then
took the lead, and was the result of some very sloppy passing which
allowed Witney to intercept a pass and score under the posts.
In the 38th minute a
long cross field kick by Ben Hewitt was picked up by Chinnor’s left wing
Jamie Hiscock who scored in the corner and Chinnor regained the lead 10
points to 7, and that was how the first half finished.
Sadly if Chinnor had have taken
some of the opportunities to increase the lead with some better passing
and less knock on,s, it would have been a different story
The second half started off like
the first with Chinnor in control most of the time, Witney then took the
opportunity of another interception after a bad pass and scored to lead
12points to 10.
Witney used the wind to put
Chinnor under pressure in the second half, which Chinnor had failed to
do in the first half. This paid off with Chinnor not clearing their
line and allowing Witney in for another converted try, bringing the lead
to 19 points to 10. And just to rub salt in to the wound Witney were
given another converted try in the last minute of the game, after
knocking the ball over the line by hand. This was gratefully accepted
by Witney, which gave them the game 26points to 10.
Scorers:
Tries: Ian Stock, Jamie Hiscock
