Windsor II (Away)

Windsor II XV 0 vs. Chinnor II XV 87
Saturday 10th December 2005

Chinnor’s second team winning streak returned with a vengeance in their league match against Windsor 2nd s, beating the home side by 87 pts to nil.

This was not as easy as the score indicates, both teams were evenly matched for the first twenty minutes and both teams defended well.  It was only when Chinnor’s captain Tom Wood broke the dead lock as well as Windsor’s defence and changed the game.

All though Chinnor’s forwards controlled the game from the start it was after the first try that they stepped up a gear. From then on Chinnor presented Windsor with a master class in rugby. The tries were coming at regular intervals by Jamie Hiscock x 2, Paul Fincken, Chad Ward, Jon Brooks and Mikaeli Lai and 3 conversions by Ben Hewitt.

Chinnor seconds finished the first half 39 Pts to Nil.

Windsor came back at Chinnor at the start of the second half and it was only in the 15th minute that Dave Goddard, after some great passing between forwards and backs scored. He scored again 5 minutes later after a forwards drive from the 22-meter line, and again converted by Ben Hewitt. The floodgates then opened with Chad Ward scoring the next 3 tries giving him a total of 4, followed by 3 more by Jamie Hiscock which brought his tally to 5 and 3 conversions by Ben Hewitt.

It was impossible to pick a man of the match with all 18 players producing awe inspiring rugby, from the fantastic driving mauls by the forwards to the passing and linking up of the back line players.

The Windsor supporters could not believe it was Chinnor’s second team and commented on their fantastic play and what a pleasure it was to watch.  15 tries and 6 conversions resulted in 87 – 0.

Scorers:

Tries: Jamie Hiscock (5), Chad Ward (4), Dave Goddard (2), Mikaeli Lia, Tom Wood, Jon Brooks, Paul Fincken
Conversions: Ben Hewitt (6)
