Chinnor 2nd XV
3 vs. Rosslyn Park II 24
Saturday 21st January 2006
Friendly
Once again
Chinnor seconds aimed high, this time against Roslynn Park Stags, who
are in Canterbury League 1, equivalent to Chinnor’s First’s in the South
West 1 and whose first team is in the national 3 league. This has
provided exceptionally high quality opposition for the second week
running for the team.
Tom Wood’s boys
really lost this game in the first fifteen minutes, by conceding two
soft tries through the centre before closing the gap and settling down
to compete in the game. The game as usual was physical and hard with
both teams giving they’re all. Chinnor pulled back 3 points after 18
minutes with a penalty by Adam White.
In the 28th
minute Simon Matthews was sin binned for ten minutes for removing one of
the Rosslyn Park players from our side of the maul, which everyone found
a little strange, but this did give the Stags an unfair advantage, and
Chinnor conceded a push over try that was converted and the first half
finished with Stags 17 point to 3 in the lead.
The second half
was as hard as the first but this time the Chinnor boys held their own,
as they had done in the last 20 minutes of the first half. The Stags
were lucky not to lose a player when young Ben Hewitt was taken out when
following up his chip over the last line of defence that could have
resulted in a try.
It was only in
the 38th minute that the Stags managed again to break
Chinnor’s defence and increase their lead.
The game
finished with Rosslyn Park winning 24 point to 3.
It was a game
played by two good teams with very little to chose between them in the
end.
All 18 players
of the Chinnor team can be very proud of the show they put on for the
spectators against such a high quality opposition team.
