The Chinnor
under 17 Chicks followed in the footsteps of the Chinnor Colts last
weekend by travelling down to Bracknell and comprehensively beating
them 90 – 0 in very wet and muddy conditions.
Leading by
example scrum half and Captain Carly Dudding picked up at the base
of the first scrum and going blind scored in the corner. Following
the restart flanker Claire Thomas powered through several attempted
tackles to again score in the corner. It was then the turn of fly
half Olivia Jack to score the first of her 7 tries, yes seven!
tries by out sprinting and out
manoeuvring the opposition. She then followed up in quick succession
with 2 more scores under the posts, both converted by fullback
Michelle Lang. Dudding got her second, again from a pickup this time
going over between the posts, converted by Lang. A couple of swift
returns from restart by Jack, one converted by Lang saw the Chicks
48 points up. Following the restart centre Hattie Buggey smashed
through all in front of her before being stopped just short of the
line at the cost of the tackling player who had to go off injured.
Bracknell cleared to touch on the 22, the
resulting lineout won by Chinnor was passed quickly to Dudding who
shot round the blind side and over the line for her hat-trick. Jack
finished the first half scoring with a chip over and another elusive
run from half way and into the corner.
Following
several changes at half time Chinnor started with more of the same
with Jack zig -zagging through a sea of flailing hands to go over in
the corner for her 7th try.Bracknell then started to get
more physical and successfully slowed the try rate. A determined
centre Natasha Raud-Alliston broke
three tackles to score under the posts, converted by Dudding. Some
slick handling put Lang away from halfway to score in the corner.
Thomas went on another rampaging run, resulting in her second try.
The Bracknell girls never gave up but could not stop a rolling maul
driven down the pitch from the Bracknell 22, about 5 metres out
Hooker, Leah Allen burst through the middle to score. The 15th
and final try went to No 8 Hannah Buggey following some excellent
interplay between backs and forwards.
Chick of the
Match went to Jenny Morrell who worked tirelessly throughout the
game, especially in the second half taking the additional role of
organising the new and inexperienced players.
The next match
is at Chinnor – v – Fullerian Furies Sunday
